For instance you don't really need a desert-only plants chest. Apply categories to your columns and divide as needed. Finally the top tier will be hardmode stuff. Above that, second from the bottom is for the pre-hardmodes that have special biomes: Hellstone, Meteorite, and Crimson ore. For instance, first column is ores, bottom chest is for the four base mined ores: Tin, Iron, Tungsten and Platinum in my latest world. The key is its going to be multi-leveled (most likely) like this And each column is a category, and then each row is slightly different. Typically by the time I have a chest room, my chests are divided into: Ores, Wood/Furniture, Potions, Flora/Fauna, Armor, Useables, Accessories, and then a chest per biome (Snow, Hell, Corruption, etc) Which is a short hand way of say things that are really valuable/cool, vs dirt and cobwebs and wood.Īs you get more chests, which I highly advise, expand that into a chest per biome. Mining is stones, ores, gems, underground monster crap, etc.įoraging is wood, plants, potions, fish, etc.ĭivide it between underworld and overworld first, or by shinies and unshinies. There are two basic "professions" Mining and Foraging. Penning's post details another way of organizing that you might also like. You probably won't need to go this in-depth, just make sure you create a larger storage area when you inevitably expand your house and put down chests as you need to. 1 chest for important useable items (example: keys) and materials for boss summon items 4 chests for armor/weapons/accessories/vanity items that aren't displayed 2 chests for statues/paintings/place-able items 1 chest for raw building materials such as stone/dirt/etc. 2 chests for craft-able monster drops (split between pre/post hardmode) 2 chests for ores/jewels/materials required to refine them (split between pre/post hardmode) After I get rolling I create a large storage room and plop down what eventually leads up to being ~18 chests total as they are needed. As I start a new world, I plop every chest I find in caves down in my house until I get going well enough to require more organization. ![]()
